Plea challenging confiscation of Musharraf's property deferred
29 January, 2012
RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday adjourned the hearing of a plea by Sehba Musharraf against a court's earlier verdict of confiscating property and bank accounts of her husband and former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf in Benazir Bhutto's assassination case. Muhammad Ilyas Siddiqui appeared before the court as new counsel for Sehba Musharraf. He requested the court to give him time to study the case and get directions from his client. On this, FIA lawyers Chaudhry Zulfiqar and Chaudhry Azhar said the court, in its last hearing, had directed Sehba Musharraf to appear before it. They requested the court to reject the appeal by the defence lawyer because Sehba Musharraf had not appeared before it. However, the court adjourned the hearing until February 11, and granted time to Ilyas Siddiqui. An anti-terrorism court had earlier ordered authorities to seize all of Pervez Musharraf's property and issued a permanent arrest warrant in the Benazir Bhutto assassination case. Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a bombing attack on December 27, 2007, after addressing a rally in Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi. End.
