Playing cops and robbers... By Gulsher

The infamous NAB has announced reopening of the cases of former president Asif Zardari. But the masses of Pakistan have become bored and sick of this charade. The fašade of accountability turns into a tragedy for the masses because millions and billions are spent on the salaries and perks of those conducting the accountability; millions are also spent on advertisements.
The Nawaz government is not serious about accountability. This was evident in the way Zardari was feted before he handed office over to the new president. Zardari did not lag behind and reciprocated by declaring to his party men to observe political ceasefire. Thus there remains no modicum of doubt that not much should be expected from the farce of any so-called accountability. Moreover this mockery of accountability would benefit both parties. The PML-N would emerge chest thumping that it launched an 'impartial' accountability drive and the PPP would emerge as the 'victim' of a man nurtured by the dictator Zia.
