Pillion riding banned for three days in Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh government on Monday imposed three-day ban on pillion riding on motorcycles/scooters in the metropolis. According to an official handout, the ban on pillion riding has been imposed from Monday evening, 31 December 2012 to Thursday, 03 January 2013. According to a notification issued by the home department, the ban will not be applicable on women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, disabled person, journalists, personnel of law enforcement agencies in uniform and employees of essential services. The notification stated that violation of this order will be liable to penal action under section 188 PPC. The areas station house officers, their subordinate inspector/sub inspector/assistant sub inspectors are authorised to take legal action against the violators in accordance with applicable laws. End.
