Pensioner woes... By Tauqeer
23 October, 2012
I would like to draw the attention of all concerned, especially the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, towards the humanitarian issue being faced by more than 40,000 telecom pensioners across Pakistan. These federal government pensioners, including 12,000 widows and orphans, have been living in miserable conditions for the last three years due to the denial of the increases in pension and medical allowance as announced in 2010-11, 2011-12 and even the current year 2012-13 by the government. These people served the nation as well as the government all their lives but are now being deprived of the usual — not special — increases. The Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Trust (PTET), working under the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications, is reluctant to grant these increases. The prime minister is requested to take notice of this disobedience of the government's orders. MUHAMMAD TAUQEER
