PESHAWAR: Unidentified gunmen on Monday shot dead famous Pashtu singer Ghazala Javed along with her father in Peshawar.

According to reports, Ghazala along with her father was on her way home in Dabgari area when some unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on her vehicle. As a result, both father and daughter were killed on the spot.

The police shifted the bodies to Lady Reading Hospital for post-mortem and registered a case against the unidentified killers.

SP city Asif Iqbal said that initial reports suggested that her ex-husband, Jahangir, from whom she had gotten a divorce after only six months of marriage, could be responsible for the attack.

Ghazala's mother is lodging an FIR at the Shah Qabool station in the Walled City area of Peshawar.

End.
