MULTAN: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi categorically said here Thursday that despite being in state of war Pakistanís existence is not jeopardised at all.
Talking to journalists at the airport he said that there is no need for despair, Pakistanís future is bright and safe and it will be out of the hard times very soon.
He said the problem of militancy has not emerged overnight but it has been brewing for the last three decades. The insurgent Taliban are an immediate threat to the security of the motherland and the entire nation has stood with unanimity of view that this menace must be extirpated for good.
The foreign minister said that Pakistanís point of view was heard sympathetically for the first time by US and European countries during President Asif Ali Zardariís recent visit.
He said unconditional US assistance worth $ 1.97 billion in its supplementary budget for Pakistan besides commitment by ďFriends of PakistanĒ forum to extend a huge assistance worth $ 5.28 billion speak volumes of our successful pleading with our negotiators.
