Pakistan team will take part in Commonwealth game in India

LAHORE – Pakistan team will take part in the Commonwealth youth, junior and senior weightlifting championships being held from October 11-16 at Pune, India.

Pakistan team will take part in the championship in six weight categories including 62, 69, 77, 85, 94, 105 and +105 Kg. “Presently, national weightlifting training camp is in progress at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad in which 16 players are undergoing rigorous training under the supervision of qualified coaches,” said a spokesman of PWF here on Tuesday.

The training camp is being sponsored by the Pakistan Sports Board. He said that this competition is the most important supporting event for Commonwealth countries in the sport of weightlifting in the year 2015. “The event will be held in accordance with the IWF rules and regulations. Doping control will be conducted during the competition in accordance with the IWF anti doping policy,” he said. The national federation has approached Pakistan Sports Board for obtaining government NOC in this regard.
