Pakistan, Russia military chiefs agree to boost defence ties

MOSCOW/RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Kayani called on Russian Federation Armed Forces Chief of General Staff (CGS) General Makarov in Moscow.
Gen Makarov welcomed the COAS and specially showed his desire to cooperate in all fields with Pakistan Armed forces.
According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Kayani called on Russian Federation Armed Forces Chief of General Staff (CGS) General Makarov in the Defence Ministry and the two military leaders expressed consensus to enhance the cooperation between the armies of the two countries.
Earlier, on the first day of his visit to Moscow on Thursday, General Kayani visited the tomb of an unknown soldier at the Kremlin to lay a floral wreath. The Russian band played Pakistani national anthem. A smartly turned out contingent presented guard of honour to the general. Commander in Chief Ground Forces Colonel General Vladimir Chrikin welcomed Kayani, according to ISPR.
