Pakistan Idol... By Maryam

13 December, 2013

Being a Pakistani citizen, I would like to share what I felt while watching the popular television show Pakistan Idol. It was quite disappointing listening to some bad songs but that was not the worst part of the show. I feel that Pakistan has lost its essence while copying foreign culture. We are always in a hurry to copy Indian culture. Just because they show the same kind of programme, it does not mean that we have to introduce it to our culture.

India has many quiz programmes too and they are informative and educational. We will never copy those educational programmes but we love to copy shows like Idol. We are in dire need to lift up our country culturally, morally and ethically. We need to promote our own music and songs by our own artists and also come up with something original that is more suited to our own cultural and traditional values.
