Pakistan Army fully supports mainstreaming of FATA

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has reiterated that Pakistan Army fully supports mainstreaming of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and will pursue the cause in line with aspirations of the people of the area.
The COAS expressed these views in his interactions with FATA tribal elders and Youth Jirga at the ISPR on Wednesday, a statement released by the military spokesman stated. The COAS held detailed discussions with both the delegations separately.
The delegations acknowledged and appreciated the sacrifices, efforts and contributions rendered by army for peace and stability and socio-economic development of FATA. The delegations expressed their respective views regarding mainstreaming of FATA and the way forward.
Gen Bajwa lauded tribal elders and the youth for their determination and support to Pakistan Army in fight against terrorism and their views regarding future of FATA. “The achievements through sacrifices of brave tribal of FATA are being consolidated while we transit from relative stability to enduring peace,” the COAS said.
He also shared with the delegates his engagement with the Afghan leadership for enhanced cooperation and security measures along the Pak-Afghan border. He advised the youth to continue playing their role towards peace and progress of FATA and Pakistan as they were the future leaders of the country. Commander Peshawar Corps, DG ISI and other senior army officers were also present on the occasion.
