Pak mission in US issues emergency contacts for expats

NEW YORK: Pakistani Embassy in United States and the Consulate General in New York have urged Pakistani expatriates to remain vigilant and follow the safety precautions laid out by US authorities for the affected states as the huge storm Sandy hits the US East Coast. Thousands flights to the US have been cancelled. A PIA flight from Karachi to New York has been rescheduled. Flight PK-721 from Karachi via Lahore, Manchester to New York has been rescheduled, and will now fly 26 hours late on Wednesday at 5:15pm, a PIA spokesman said. Pakistani embassy in a statement said a number of steps have been taken to stay in touch with expatriate Pakistanis and members of Pakistani diaspora in the affected States. The embassy had approached key Pakistani community members through phone and email and urged them to remain vigilant and take all necessary safety precautions as laid out by their respective district governments and to approach the nearest emergency centre whenever needed.
