Pak first Women’s football team to participate in Oman

ISLAMABAD: The historic Pakistan’s first national women’s football team will participate for the first time in International tournament.

Keeping up their good work and providing some good exposure to women players, Pakistan Football Federation has decided that national woman football team for the first time in the history will participate in an international tournament which started from may 11 in Oman .

These views were expressed by Pakistan Football Federation Director Technical Colonel retired Mujahid Tareen while talking to Online on Thursday.

He lauded the down to earth efforts of President PFF, Federal Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat for the promotion of football especially for women after the success of First National Woman Football Championship.

It has been decided for the first time for the formal participation of national woman football in an international tournament.

He told Online that for the first time in the history of Pakistan woman national football team will participate in an international Five A Side Women Championship in Oman from May 11-18.

The teams in the prestigious tournament include Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, United Arab Emirates Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan besides host Oman that is playing three teams in the tournament.

Replying to a question, he said that a ten member team will be selected for the championship and in this respect a training camp will be set up on April 29 in Lahore.

He further said that 25 outstanding woman players who excelled in National Woman Championship will participate in the camp.

National Football Coach Tariq Lutfi would train the players while he added that a final squad will be announced likely on May 7or 8 after formal approval of President PFF, Federal Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat.

The historic Pakistan’s first national women’s football championship was held last year in October at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad and Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) had well jointly organized the event that occurred amid the colorful celebrations.

The player entered the players wearing trousers and long-sleeved shirts and Punjab team won the first national women championship.
