LAHORE: A delegation of Pakistan Rangers and other government departments on Wednesday left for a bi-annual dialogue with India on the issue of saving lives and properties of civilians in the Indo-Pak border areas. The delegation is headed by Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) Director General Major General Umar Farooq Burki, while delegates from Pakistan Rangers (Sindh), Interior Ministry, Survey of Pakistan and Anti Narcotics Force are also included in it.

It consists of 16 members and would hold talks with Indian Border Security Force. The talks, which are held alternatively in India and Pakistan, would be held in New Delhi from September 9 to September 12. Pakistan Rangers and BSF would discuss professional matters related to border management.

In order to prevent losses of innocent civilian lives and properties, the delegation would discuss issues pertaining to unprovoked ceasefire violations, smuggling and safe and early return of inadvertent border crossers. Since the last couple of months, ceasefire violations by the Indian border force have increased manifold and it has targeted civilian population inside the Pakistani territory, violating the international law and Charter of United Nations. A Rangers spokesman has said Rangers and BSF will discuss professional matters in relation to border management.
