ISLAMABAD: PTI candidate Asad Umar from NA 48 filed his nomination papers before Assistant Returning Officer Shahrukh Arjumand here on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by Adnan Randhawa, an Islamabad-based leader of PTI who himself was an aspiring candidate from the same constituency. Randhawa seconded the nomination papers of Asad Umar.

Adnan Randhawa had strongly recommended Asad Umar's name for NA 48 during a meeting with party Chairman who had expressed his wish to get Asad Umar elected from this constituency.

PTI's Islamabad based leadership has already devised a campaign strategy for Asad Umar which will be kick started in a few days.

Meanwhile, Insaf Razakars, a PTI group of mostly young and educated workers, have assured Asad Umar their fullest support in his campaign. At this occasion, representatives of Insaf Razakars Rana Atif, Rao Jee, Faran Hashmi, Rana Usman, Asif Mehsood, Muhammad Jahangir, Madam Fareen, Miss Sadia Hameed expressed their best wishes to Asad Umar and resolved to put in their best for his success. Insaf Razakar Group of PTI, specially focused on morality and ethics in politics, is headed by Adnan Randhawa.

Mr. Randhawa again expressed apprehensions that PML(N) government in Islamabad will misuse state machinery to rig the upcoming bye-elections in Islamabad, of which PML(N) is known to be a past master. "This would be the biggest challenge for PTI in bye-elections and if we could, somehow, manage to frustrate the expected efforts of rigging, we will win this seat with heavy margin", Mr. Randhawa added.

After the filing of Asad Umar's nomination papers, Mr Randhawa submitted his nomination papers as well.

Mr. Randhawa is a former diplomat who resigned from his prestigious Foreign Service job in protest of collusion of senior officers of Foreign Office in securing the release of Raymond Davis, a CIA agent and joined PTI soon thereafter. He is a strong advocate of independent foreign policy and independent Pakistan.

End.
