MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi thinks his party should participate in the next Senate elections.

"I am in favour of participating in the Senate election and I have conveyed my suggestion to the party’s core committee which will take the final decision," he told newsmen here on Wednesday 21,January,2015.

He said PTI chief Imran Khan had left for Saudi Arabia to perform Umra. He said Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri would also be there during the same days but ruled out any meeting between them.

He said as a member of the political Jirga, Rehman Malik was asking the National Assembly speaker not to accept the resignations of PTI parliamentarians while on other hand his party’s speaker in the Sindh Assembly had accepted the resignations of party MPAs.

He said that his party is ready to go back to the assemblies if the judicial commission for investigation into alleged irregularities in 2013 general elections is constituted. Addressing a press conference, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that his party has agreed upon every bit of details of the ordinance, during meeting with the government team. "Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had stated that everything is decided between the two sides and now an approval by his leadership is being awaited," he added. The PTI leader said that according to him any further talks in this regard are ‘useless’.

Qureshi said that it was beyond understating that the government was using delaying tactics to solve the issue. Qureshi hinted at resuming its protest movement if the government allegedly keeps dragging its feet over setting up a judicial commission to investigate results of the general elections.

PTI vice chairman said the party’s chief Imran Khan was disappointed over the government’s reluctance to constitute a fully empowered inquisitorial judicial commission for audit of the elections.
