PPP will win forthcoming elections: Wattoo

LAHORE: Newly appointed President of PPP Central Punjab Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has expressed the confidence that the party would win the forthcoming elections in collaboration with its allies and form the next government in Punjab.

Addressing a public meeting in Lahore on Monday night‚ he said it is for the first time in 65 year history of the country that President Asif Ali Zardari is pursuing a genuine policy of reconciliation‚ taking several important parties along. He held out an assurance that he would take care of the interests of the PML (Q) in Punjab and move forward with them as equal partners.

Wattoo said he would resolve problems of the workers and mobilize the party for the elections.

He said PML (N) keeps Prime Ministership and Chief Ministership in the family but credit goes to President Zardari who picked up Prime Ministers from amongst workers and has also elevated me (Wattoo) as President of the PPP Central Punjab.

Central Punjab Secretary-General of the party Tanwir Ashraf Kaira the party would get united and regain its strength in Punjab. He said the PPP is party of those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of democracy and the country.

Federal Minister Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said the Supreme Court judgment has exposed those who have been leveling allegations against the PPP leadership. She said the PPP strongly believes in safeguarding rights of women.
