ISLAMABAD: The PPP has decided in principle to award tickets for the forthcoming Senate elections to Raza Rabbani, Farhatullah Babar and Abdul Hafeez sheikh.

Sources informed that the Chairman of Parliamentary Committee for National Security, Presidential Spokesman and Finance Minister have been chosen from amongst 139 hopefuls who have submitted their nominations to PPP Secretariat.

Today, Tuesday is the last date for receiving such applications, while Presidential Spokesman Farhatullah Babar has been known to have been directed by President Asif Ali Zardari to submit his nomination papers.

Farhatullah Babar is expected to leave his post as Presidential Spokesman after his most possible election to Senate; while both Abdul Hafeez sheikh and Raza Rabbani are also due to retire from their Senate posts after their tenure.

Farhatullah Babar would be nominated from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while the other two luminaries would be elected from Sindh.

End.
