PPP, PML-Q to defeat opponents: Governor Khosa

01 November, 2012

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa said that Pakistan Peoples' Party and Pakistan Muslim League would contest general elections hand in hand to defeat opponents.

He expressed these views during his meeting with Pakistan Muslim League President Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi at their residence here on Wednesday.

During the meeting, in which Moonis Elahi was also present, views were exchanged at some length regarding overall Punjab situation and other important matters. They also discussed the forthcoming bye-elections being held to fill the vacant seats of the National and Provincial Assemblies.

On this occasion Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa said that Pakistan Peoples' Party alliance with Pakistan Muslim League is not for some time, we attach great importance to this alliance, both the parties will not only contest the bye-elections hand in hand with each other to defeat the opponents but also in the general elections and get the air out of balloons of those raising empty slogans.

Ch Shujat Hussain and Ch Parvez Elahi maintained that they entered into alliance with the Peoples Party was not for personal interests but in the larger interests of the nation and the country and it would remain intact.

They said that like bye-elections, both the parties would put up best candidates through seat adjustment in the general elections as well adding that the results of the elections would be quite humiliating for the opponents contrary to all their tall claims.

End.
