LAHORE: Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, on Wednesday said that the opposition has proposed the names of Justice (r) Shakirullah Jan, Justice (r) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Bux Palejo for the caretaker prime minister.

Addressing a news conference in Lahore, the PML-N leader said that the proposed names for the office of the caretaker prime minister will be forwarded to the prime minister on Thursday (today). He said these names have been finalised in consultation with all the opposition parties.

He said consultations have also been held with those parties which have no representation in parliament. Rejecting news reports about back-door talks between the PPP and PML-N, Nisar said that no back-channel dialogue was taking place with the government on the issue of caretaker setup, as his party does not believe in such channels.

The opposition leader said that all-out efforts have been made to propose the names of impartial persons for the caretaker prime minister. He said the PML-N wants elections for the national and provincial assemblies on the same day. Nisar said the caretaker governments in Balochistan and Sindh should be formed with wider consultations.

End.
