PML-N govt enjoys backing of Taliban: SIC Chief

ISLAMABAD: Chairman, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Sahibzada Hamid Raza alleged that the PML-N led government has full support of Afghan Taliban and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Addressing a press conference Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and Voice of Shuhada (VoS), Saturday, announced to hold protesting conference outside the Parliament on 5th January if it will not be allowed to hold 'Peace Conference' at Convention Center Islamabad. Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Maulana Amin Shahidi and Faisal Raza Abidi deplored over the government attitude towards religious parties by not allowing holding National Peace Conference.
Sahibzada Hamid Raza alleged that banned organizations are freely conducting meetings and conventions in the country; however, patriotic organizations are not allowed to do so.
The SIC chief said that Punjab and the federal governments are promoting terrorism in the country. He said if the government will stop today's (Sunday) protest conference outside the parliament then the govt will responsible of any act.
To a question, Maulana Amin Shahidi and Faisal Raza Abidi strongly condemned the assignation of Mufti Muneeb Ma'uai.
They said that it was government's responsibility to implement a proposed policy on religious harmony. The representatives of religious parties said that the state has failed completely. The government, they said, was befooling people in the name of talks with Taliban.
"Time has come that the government should establish its writ against terrorists," they added. It is pertinent to mention here that Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) and Voice of Shuhda had announced to host a joint convention in Islamabad on January 5 in a bid to promote interfaith harmony in the country.
