PML-N, Sunni Tehreek to jointly contest polls

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Sunni Tehreek have decided to contest the upcoming elections together, our sources has learnt. According to political sources, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and Sunni Tehreek head Sarwat Ijaz Qadri will hold a joint press conference in a few days to announce the agreement on an election alliance between the two parties. Both parties have completed homework on seat adjustment in Karachi, according to which the PML-N and the Sunni Tehreek will field common candidates for the national and provincial assembly seats, said the sources. PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi and Sunni Tehreek's central leader Shahid Ghouri have worked out the plan. According to sources, in Punjab, interior Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, both parties are chalking out a plan, which is expected to be completed soon. In this regard, provincial leaders of the two parties are holding meetings over seat adjustment. The Sunni Tehreek has decided to participate in the general election as a cogent political force and the alliance with the PML-N is a follow-up to that decision. During his visit to Lahore, the Sunni Tehreek chief had announced that the party would contest the election from all the provinces of the country. End.
