LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-likeminded Steering Committee Chairman Senator Saleem Saifullah has categorically said that any operation in North Waziristan would be opposed, as it would worsen the situation in the Tribal Areas.
Talking to the media at the residence of his party's provincial chapter leader Mian Asif, he said that the accountability bill is not about eradicating corruption but to encourage it, and it would also be opposed in the parliament.
Stressing the need to construct Kalabagh Dam at the earliest, Saifullah alleged that certain quarters getting foreign funding had been opposing the construction of the dam. He said that only Kalabagh Dam could cater to the country's increasing needs of electricity.
To a question about the formation of a grand alliance, he said that his party had conveyed a message to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif that alliance between the two factions was not sufficient to combat the nexus of PPP, MQM, ANP and PML-Q.
