ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security today (Tuesday). Chiefs of armed forces and cabinet members of the committee would attend the meeting to give approval to the draft of National Security Policy.
Talks with the Taliban and other national issues would come under discussion during the meeting. Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan would give a detailed briefing on the National Security Policy.
According to the Interior ministry, the policy is based on three parts – one part of which would be kept classified. Nisar Ali Khan said on Sunday that the government had worked out the country's first three-pronged National Security Policy draft to curb terrorism and maintain law and order.
Addressing a press conference at Punjab House, the minister said the policy draft would first be placed before the National Security Committee and then it would be announced after taking approval from the federal cabinet. He said that the draft also aimed at making security agencies more active, efficient and strong.
