PM Nawaz asks defense institutions to play role for recovery of missing persons

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Tuesday morning and discussed the issue of missing persons.
Security situation of the country, professional matters of the armed forces and issue of missing persons also came under discussion. Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif was also present in the meeting.
Prime Minister directed that the issue of missing person should be solved seriously and court orders in this regard should be implemented. He said that the defense institutions should play their role in this regard. According to sources the list of missing person was also discussed
The Prime Minister felicitated General Raheel Sharif on assuming the office of Army Chief and hoped that Pakistan Army will further improve its professional capabilities under his leadership.
PM Nawaz Sharif assured Army Chief that the government was making all out efforts to improve capabilities of armed forces.
Gen. Sharif brief the PM about matters related to internal and external security, Line of Control, and other professional issues.
The key meeting held on the day when Supreme Court of Pakistan will be resuming its hearing into one of the most pressing issues for the PML-N government: the matter of undeclared detainees.
A bench of the apex court, led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, has issued strict ordered to the Defence Ministry to produce 33 undeclared detainees in the court. The court was told on Monday that two other missing persons have died in a detention center.
According to sources, the bigwigs discussed on Tuesday the court orders and ways to satisfy the court in the crucial case hearing.
