PM Nawaz approves name of Muhammad Khan Sherani for CII chairmanship

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved name of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani as new chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII).
According to reliable sources, notification in this regard would expectedly be issued in two days.
Ministry of Religious Affairs has been directed to issue notification of appointment of Sherani.
It is pertinent to mention that Maulana Fazl-Ur-Rehman had asked PM to appoint Sherani as chairman CII in his meeting with the PM.
Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani is in India along with party chief Maulana Fazl-Ur-Rehman and he would resume office after return to home.
Spokesman JUI-F, Jan Achakzai told that PM approved Sherani's name for chairman CII slot but members of CII would be elected before his appointment.
Another JUI-F member requesting anonymity informed that Sherani is the strongest candidate for chairmanship and he has made contacts with other council members already.
"Most probably Sherani would be next chairman of Council of Islamic Ideology," he mentioned.
