ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and army chief General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday agreed to respond to terrorists and militants with full force. The consensus developed during a meeting between the two at the Prime Minister's House where the army chief General Raheel Sharif called on the premier, sources said.
The prime minister said the military operation in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) would be decided with consensus of all the stakeholders and national and public interest would be kept supreme while taking the decision.
Nawaz said the cancer of terrorism needed to be treated before it ate up the motherland. He said no concession would be given to those who had challenged the state writ and were creating lawlessness in the country. He said the unmatched sacrifices of the army would not go in vain.
The prime minister also exchanged views with the army chief on the future course of action on dialogue, Karachi operation, missing persons and other related issues besides functioning of the military.
The army chief briefed the prime minister on the border situation and lauded his initiative to take all civil and military stakeholders on board before taking any decision on the military operation.
The meeting came a day after majority of ruling party members supported military action against the Taliban terrorists during the parliamentary meeting chaired by the prime minister.
