PM Gilani may quit to ease pressure on Zardari
14 January, 2012
LONDON: The Times has disclosed, quoting a Pakistani military official, that the generals would "only step in if asked by the senior most judge in Pakistan."
The disclosure is included in a report filed by two reporters of The Times, Francis Elliot and Aoun Sahi, who reported that "following the (corps commanders') meeting, a military official told The Times that the generals would only step in if asked by the most senior judge in Pakistan."
"There is no chance of a coup in Pakistan right now. The military is not going to allow the PPP to become political martyrs," the newspaper said.
Quoting the military officer, The Times said: "We believe in democracy and the Constitution of the country and we are looking towards the Supreme Court. We will consider helping implement (the) court's decision if civil authorities fail to implement it."
These words attributed to the Pakistan Army are the first direct signal that the army generals would follow the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan if they were asked to help implement the judgments of the SC under Article 190.
The Times report also made the disclosure quoting "some observers" who predicted that Prime Minister Gilani may be considering to resign as part of a move to deflect the pressure on the president and regain the moral high ground for the government led by President Zardari's Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
The newspaper report said President Zardari has also asked Aitzaz Ahsan, a leading lawyer and former ally of his late wife, Benazir Bhutto, to conduct secret negotiations with the court. Aitzaz Ahsan is also being tipped as a possible replacement for Gilani.

All praise for Pak army |
The nation is proud of very balanced, sensible, forgiving, compromising and tolerant behaviour of Pak army. One would'nt thinkthat any Pak would accept continuity of wild and even berserk behaviour, conduct and deportment of some high up(s) amongst the elected heirachy of Pak civilian rulers.
This is even more sad bearing by Pak nation and armed forces, that the mega memo gate conspiracy, if proved right by the supreme court, was unforgivable tresonous yet failed shot on the very survival and existence of our Pak nation of 180 million people and over half million personnel of our sacred armed forces.
Guilty or not, Gilani and some others as you can clearly read in the Pak media are no longer even desired by Pak nation to carry on with continuity flags for themselves. In contrast, Pak armed forces have calmly obeyed the ones highest ones in judiciary who are trying to make Pakistan function on the rule of the law. If the guilty ones amongst the civilian ruling hierachy have left with them any conscience, they will part from the responsibility that the nation had entrusted on them through electoral process only to feel dismayed later on as you see it today.
ALLAH BLESS THE PAK ARMY AND MAY ALLAH GIVE IT INFINITE STRENGTH AND MIGHT TO SAFEGUARD THE INTEGRITY, INDEPENDENCE AND SURVIVAL OF PAKISTAN. PAK ARMED FORCES NEED LIBERAL PRAISE FOR KEEPING THE COOL AND TOLERANT TO KEEP PAKISTAN FUNCTION MOST PEACEFULLY THROUGH VERY GRAND AND ENSURED MOODS AND MODES.

From all accounts it appers that Mr Aitzaz Ahsan is a lot more intelligent than Gilani and Zardari put together. A few days ago these two embodiments of utter corruption were defying and threatening the Supreme Court and now they want to make a deal with it! It is not going to happen. Surrendering Pakistan to the crusaders is not going happen, no matter what BB, Zardari or Zardari+Gilani had offered to the enemies of Pakitan. BB & Zardari had offered their own respective deals and Zardari+Gilani had apparently instigated Memogate and were similarly involved in the OPERATION BLUE TULSI with USA, India and Israel.
As I and many others commented in the last few weeks, the line-up was clear: Zardari & Co + USA and its anti- Pakistan partners in crime on one side and Pkistan minus PPP (PLUNDER PAKISTAN PARTY) and its carpetbaggers on the other.
We Pakistanis must thank Allah (SWT) for not having stooges like Busharraf at such a critical time!
