PM Ashraf orders uninterrupted gas supply in winter

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has directed his adviser on petroleum and natural resources, Dr Asim Hussain, to prepare a winter plan for gas distribution with an objective of ensuring that domestic consumers are provided uninterrupted gas. In a meeting with Dr Hussain at the Prime Minister's House on Sunday to discuss the current gas situation in the country, Raja expressed hope that the new Exploration and Production (E&P) Policy would give further impetus to tap oil and gas reserves in the country. The prime minister said that energy security was the top priority of the government, "since it is critical for the growth of economy". Dr Hussain assured the prime minister that his ministry would intensify its efforts to streamline production and distribution of oil and gas so that requirement of all the sectors were catered to.
