Our bought silence... By Tahir

The helplessness that Pakistan and its people find themselves in makes me very sad. We are under a great burden of debt to international lending agencies, particularly the US. We feel the strain every single day when we see prices rising up and the masses decreasing their needs and necessities.
Maybe that is why the streets are silent and the people numb even after hearing news that the US plans to strike the Syrian leadership, and the country, militarily. Usually, when we hear of any slight against Muslims in other countries we take to the streets forgetting our own problems and our many issues. However, we are eerily silent over the US' intention to attack Syria, a Muslim country. Maybe this has something to do with the mighty dollar and the weight it has on our backs.
