One dead, four wounded

KANDAHAR: At least one person was killed and four others were wounded as a civilian vehicle struck a landmine in Khakrez district of southern Kandahar province yesterday, an official said.

The ill-fated people were on their way to attend a wedding when the car they were travelling in hit a landmine in Baghky area, Muhammad Yousaf, administrator of Khakrez district, told AIP.

He said driver of the vehicle was killed and four women wounded in the explosion, adding the injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
