FARAH: One person was killed and six others were injured when police opened fire at an alleged car-lifter in western Farah province, an official said on Thursday.
The incident took place at a square in Farah City, the provincial capital, around 12pm, said Abdul Rahman Zhwandai, the governor's spokesman.
Police fired at the car-lifter after he got into a vehicle and was about to drive away, killing one shopkeeper and injuring six others, including a child and a woman. The car was confiscated by police.
Nasir Ahmad said his son received two bullets in the head. Ahmad and his wife were injured in the feet. "Why did police open fire in a public place, inflicting casualties on people?'' he asked.
