One Talib fighter killed, two others injured in Mohmandara

JALALABAD: A Talib fighter was killed and two wounded during a clash with police in Mohmandara district of eastern Ningarhar province last night, an official said Friday.

The clash erupted after Taliban gunmen attacked the district headquarters at approximately 12:20 a.m., Shukrullah Durrani, administrator of Mohmandara district, told AIP.

He said a Talib fighter, Lal Gul, was killed and two more wounded, adding Lal Gul was hailing from Chaknoor area. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah claimed responsibility for the attack. Several police were killed and wounded while the district headquarters building was damage, he told AIP.

He did not disclose if there was any damage to Taliban or not.

Detainee kills cop, injure another: KUNDUZ (AIP): A detainee shot dead a policeman and wounded another snatching arm from a cop in northern Takhar province today, police said Friday.

Police detained a suspected anti-government gunman in Takhar University and locked him in a room of the university, said Abdul Khalil Aseer, media relation official of Takhar police.

He told AIP when police was shifting the detainee today's afternoon, he snatched arm from a cop and opened fire on them, killing a policeman and wounding another, adding other cops shot and wounded the detainee.
