Non-implementation of UN resolutions deplored

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, has deplored that despite the passage of over six decades, the UN resolutions on Kashmir have not been implemented. Professor Abdul Ghani Butt in a media interview in Srinagar emphasised that the UN resolutions were the legal base for the Kashmir dispute. However, he maintained that these resolutions were useful only when applied or acted upon. He said that India and Pakistan had reached at a point where they could not avoid the resolution of the Kashmir dispute for long. But he said that if flexibility was not shown, the dialogue process would get stalled. The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, talking to a delegation of elders from Rawalpora that met him at his residence in Srinagar, today, said that New Delhi wanted to divide the Kashmiris on sectarian lines to sabotage the ongoing liberation movement but it would never succeed in its nefarious designs. APHC leader, Syed Bashir Andrabi, addressing a public gathering at Chararipora in Badgam said that the unparalleled sacrifices offered by the Kashmiri people for securing their inalienable right to self-determination would not be allowed to go waste. In Washington, the Executive Director of Kashmiri American Council, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, in a statement said that Kashmir was a political issue, which must be resolved through peaceful tripartite talks involving India, Pakistan and the genuine Kashmiri leadership. The Kashmir Centre London during its two-day programme organised at Worcester and Birmingham vowed to strengthen in the entire United Kingdom the campaign for restoration of rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The event was attended by various councillors and addressed among others by Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl and Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo. An exhibition was also organised at the County Council Hall Worcester that depicted human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. A documentary was also screened, which presented the human right scenario in the territory. End.
