No room for new air night, Basant celebrations in Pakistan: MMA

28 July, 2005

ISLAMABAD: MMA leader Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz on Thursday while rejecting President General Pervez Musharraf's statement in which the latter's supported celebration of new air night, Basant and valentine day, said there was no room for such un-Islamic values in Pakistan.

"Supporting of new air night, Basant and valentine day like trends in the country are mockery of Islamic values and Pakistan is an Islamic country and there is no room to promote such trends," Maulana Aziz expressed these remarks in his chat with Online.

President Musharraf was presently spearheading western agenda in the country, which plunged the country and nation to quagmire and anarchy like situation, he remarked.

He went on to say that foreign policy of the government had completely collapsed and Pakistan was standing alone among the comity of nations and even the friendly states have deserted Pakistan.

The country is in need of sincere and bold leader to lead the nation in this critical hour, he said adding that difficulties faced by the country should be tackled if Islamic teachings be imposed in the country.
