No proposal to link civil nuke technology with NATO supply: Hina

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar said on Tuesday that there was no proposal under consideration to link transfer of civil nuclear technology with the resumption of NATO supply. Talking to reporters after briefing the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) meeting, she said that Pakistan and the United States need each other and their relations were not limited to economic ties. FM said that the PCNS has adopted most of the recommendations of the Envoy's Conference recently held in the federal capital. "The relations with the US and the NATO will be reviewed in accordance with the mandate given by the committee," she added. Earlier, PCNS meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Raza Rabbani. FM and the defence secretary briefed the members. Senators Ishaq Dar, Prof Khurshid Ahmed, Afrasiyab Khattak, Abdul Rahim Mandokhel and MNAs Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, Munir Khan Orakzai, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Haider Abbas Rizvi and Nadeem Afzal Chan also attended the meeting. Talking to the media, Raza Rabbani said that the foreign minister and the defence secretary briefed the committee about their institutional point of view and also presented proposals. End.
