ISLAMABAD, March 13 (Online): Dr Mahatir Mohammed, former Prime Minister of Malaysia Saturday stressed the need for promoting interfaith harmony between different religions.

"Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance and preaches respect for other religions and there is no room for hatred, terrorism or extremism in it," he observed this while addressing the participants of Third Degree Awarding Ceremony of Islamic International University Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion Prince Hassan Bin Talal of Jordan said that keeping in view the problems faced by the Ummah, the theory of Enlightened Moderation is the viable theory to cope with such challenges.

He appreciated the Enlightened Moderation theory of President General Pervez Musharraf that shows the path to Muslim Ummah to confront problems it is faced with presently.

End.
