No justice, no hope... By Sharif

09 October, 2012

My younger brother, Aijaz Ali, who was 45 years old, was murdered in Khairpur on August 13, 2012 without any reason or enmity. Four killers were identified on the spot and nominated in FIR no 99/2012 at the police station in the Ahmedpur District of Khairpur. At the time of his murder, he was at work. Ironically, at that time, policemen were on duty just 60 metres away from the incident. They did not bother to follow the killers or fire at them to stop them in the process of my brother's murder. These same killers have been identified in other FIRs as well.

The police have deliberately been avoiding the arrest of the killers. This lukewarm attitude of the police has created many problems for my family members. In addition, these men have been threatening my family and me with dire consequences. Delaying tactics adopted by the police in connection with the arrest of the killers indicate either clear favouritism for the accused or gross negligence on the part of police officials. This attitude of the police has forced me to send my grievances to higher authorities but no satisfactory action has been taken against the killers. Such a situation is enough to leave one feeling entirely hopeless, as if there is no justice in the system whatsoever.
