Nisar urges SC to investigate ISI's role in politics
25 January, 2012
ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday deplored that the "drama" the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had been staging in 2012 was being overlooked, and urged the Supreme Court to investigate ISI's role in the politics of the country. "If Supreme Court could reopen a 23-year old case, then why could it not investigate the role played by the agency during Musharraf rule and the scene staged by the agency in the present times? It seems that all the eyes and ears are closed towards the ISI's tamasha. If the matter is not looked into by the court, it would be a mockery of justice," Nisar noted. He also came down hard on Imran Khan, saying that he had no role in restoration of the present independent judiciary, and asked him not to pretend that judiciary was 'in his pocket'. "When the judges-restoration movement was at its peak, Imran Khan used to visit foreign countries, and disappeared when the long march was being held," Nisar said. Reacting to First Pakistan Group's press conference, Nisar said the loyalists of Pervez Musharraf should apologise from the nation for their past acts instead of preaching democracy. "It is an irony that those who used to be supporters of Musharraf by playing a dark role are now talking about democracy. This group should be named 'Musharraf First' instead of Pakistan First," he remarked. End.
