Nepra okays 27 paisas raise in power tariff

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved on Thursday an increase of 27 paisas per unit in the electricity tariff on account of fuel adjustment for November.
During the hearing on fuel price adjustment at Nepra, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) stated that the use of furnace oil increased in November, due to which the power cost increased by 45 paisas per unit. Overall, the electricity cost was estimated at Rs 49 billion.
The CPPA said the cost of diesel-based generation stood at Rs23 per unit and 22 paisas per unit loss was witnessed due to power theft and line losses.The consumers of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) would be exempted from the raise.
