Negligence towards impaired citizens... By Anne

One would think that an airline company as big as Air Blue would willingly provide assistance facilities to its impaired travellers and not leave them in the lurch. One recent incident left me annoyed with the airline's policy. It not only denied assistance to a visually impaired relative of mine who was travelling alone from Karachi to Lahore but also alerted all aviation personnel to put him through tests at every stage. Torch lights were shone into his eyes and other travellers of the same flight that were helping him were made to sign a consent form that in case of an emergency related to him the airline would not be held responsible. This shows the discrimination being practiced against such people in our society by one of the biggest companies in Pakistan.
The company should look into its existing policies and make amends where the impaired citizens are concerned so as to avoid any further inconvenience to other such passengers in the future.
