Need stressed for promotion of education

KARACHI: There is a need for eradication of poverty and unemployment in the country through development in education, Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazhar ul Haq said on Tuesday.

He was addressing as chief guest at the annual convocation of New Ports Institute of Communication and Economics (NPICE), says a statement.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Institute, Brig. (Retd) Sadiq Jamal, Vice Chairperson, Huma Bukhari, Director Finance Mirza Raza AIi, Director H.R. Bushra Raza, Faculty members and educationists were also present.

Pir Mazhar said that the teachers and faculty members played an important role for the progress of any educational institution. He emphasised the need to bring the academic standard high so as to make headway in the comity of nations.

The Minister said that the government was endeavouring to make available facilities for the acquisition of education to the people especially in the villages and rural as well as backward areas.

He showed his satisfaction that such private education institutions like the NPICE were also contributing their bit towards promotion of education. At the end, the gold medals as well as certificates were distributed among those students who excelled in their studies.
