Nawaz warns against delay in elections

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has warned that any delay in holding of elections would take the country closer to devastation and destruction. While talking to party members at his Raiwind residence on Sunday, Nawaz said the PML-N would not allow any delay in the elections. He also said that failure and corruption by the ruling elite have brought a bad name for democracy. The government was not ready to follow constitution and bent upon taking decisions at will, therefore, institutions have become weaker, he added. Nawaz said the country was passing through an era of unprecedented corruption but rulers were not ready to correct themselves but they rather prefer to adopt unconstitutional methods to protect themselves. Nawaz said load shedding in the country has brought the economy at the brink of total collapse. He said this problem would only be resolved when corruption was rooted out. The PML-N president strongly criticised the increase in oil prices. Nawaz said that everybody in the country was already perturbed because of price-hikes and unemployment. Rise in oil prices was an injustice with the already toiling people, he added. End.
