Nawaz hints at formation of grand alliance before polls

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that a grand political alliance would be made before general elections, but the coalition partners of the present government would not be allowed to join it.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the PML-N Central Secretariat, Nawaz said that the secretariat would play the role of a think-tank for the development of Pakistan.
He also said that the PML-N had a very talented and experienced team, well versed in the art of governance, with ideas that would change the socio-economic-political scenario of the country.
Nawaz said, "We have an agenda and a team for a safe and bright future of Pakistan and have such ideas which will change the economic condition of the country."
He urged the youth not to be disappointed as the PML-N guarantees their bright future.
Reminding his audience about the past successes of the PML-N, he assured overseas Pakistanis that there was more in the offing for the right talent.
The party adopted important policies for the overseas Pakistanis in the past and will also give an excellent package to them, he said, adding that there was a great potential inside and outside the country, which would be utilised.
Nawaz said, "We will evolve such policies under which the expatriate Pakistanis will come to the country with confidence and serve the country through their wealth, experience and talent."
He said that gigantic projects would be planned in this secretariat, adding that the people could not forget the faces, which were allies of Asif Zardari and his government.
He said that the government had given the worst load shedding, corruption, terrorism, defamed the Supreme Court, missing persons and trampling national sovereignty, which could not be ignored.
He said that the government's allies were more responsible than the PPP of the present situation. "How many prime ministers Asif Zardari will sacrifice for the protection of his wealth in Swiss banks received through kickbacks," Nawaz questioned.
He said the main question before the nation was that when would Zardari himself leave his office. Nawaz said that there was no difference between Pervez Musharraf and Asif Zardari as both of them have 'dictatorial approach'.
He said that Zardari had dissolved the Punjab government and imposed governor's rule within one year of the general elections in February 2008. He added that Zardari also got him disqualified from Dogar courts.
"Zardari deviated from written agreements for restoration of judiciary due to which he had to launch a long march to Islamabad with millions of people on March 15, 2009, whereas he (Zardari) had been resisting the restoration of judiciary," he said.
Nawaz Sharif announced that the PML-N would not allow any plan or conspiracy of the present rulers against independent judiciary to succeed.
Ahsan Iqbal, Ishaq Dar, Attaul Haq Qasmi, Noorul Hassan Tanvir, Shahbaz Sharif, Mumtaz Bhutto, Ameer Muqam, Sartaj Aziz, Ghulam Dastagir, Tariq Azeem, Marvi Memon, Pervaiz Rasheed and Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa also attended the inaugural ceremony.
