Karachi: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said if early elections were not held, the situation would further deteriorate.

Talking to media persons in Karachi, the former prime minister said it was the best time to hold election and resign from the parliament.

He said that the situation would further deteriorate if government tried to complete its tenure. "People will take a sigh of relief if election is held," he added.

Sharif said that the PML-N and PPP unity government could teach a lesson to establishment but the opportunity had been wasted.

He said that it was not establishment's job to be involved in changing loyalties of politicians.

Earlier, talking to businessmen, he said his party had supported President Asif Ali Zardari but he disappointed the PML-N.

Nawaz Sharif said that the same play is being played in Balochistan which was played in East Pakistan. He said that if army took over now, the situation would further deteriorate. The oil prices rose up due to the IPPs of Pakistan Peoples' Party, Nawaz blamed.

Former prime minister said that President Zardari disappointed him on many times. He said that India has progressed by adopting his policies. He stressed to improve revenue collecting system in the country. Labour leaders also called on PML-N chief.

Meanwhile talking to a delegation of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) he said that the PML-N did not seek any ministry from PPP so that the latter could begin its journey successfully, he underlined.

"But President Zardari compelled us and we took oath of ministries by wearing black bands. On the other hand President Zardari did not deliver on his pledges," he added.

"No opposition party supports Prime Minister in voting process at present time. But we cast votes in his favor for the sake of development of the country so that Pakistan could be held in high esteem in the world countries and it could achieve high economic growth. But President Zardari disappointed us on all occasions, he underlined.

"We should be grateful that judiciary was independent. People would get justice, he maintained. "I still think that all the parties sit together and evolve agenda about future of the country and deliver on it no matter whosoever wins the election", he stressed.

"If PML-N voted to power again, 'we would resolve all the problems of the country and steer Pakistan out of distress. We will have to free our heart from all fears and apprehensions and go alongwith the other countries for economic uplift. We will have to reform ourselves first of all. I extend invitation to all parties to come forward and address the problems being confronted by the country", he remarked.

He went on to say Pakistan had lost support of all its friendly countries and it enjoyed no respect. Had our policies been pursued, Pakistan would have outpaced South Korea. Had we been voted to corridors of power for five years the journey from Peshawar to Karachi would have been covered in 8 hours, he observed.

He alleged national sovereignty was compromised after 9/11 incident. Pakistan could not afford any martial law now, he held.

End.
