PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack on PAF Badaber airbase on Friday, saying that the terrorists cannot shake our resolve through dastardly acts. Nawaz Sharif visited Peshawar hours after the attack on PAF camp in Badaber to personally assess the cleanup operation. He was accompanied by Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid and senior military officers.

Nawaz said, “We are proud of the martyrdom of valiant youths like Capt Asfand Yar and their sacrifices will go waste. Operation Zarb-e-Azb will continue until the elimination of last terrorist. The entire nation stands behind armed forces.” The PM was briefed by Peshawar Corps Commander Lt Gen Hidyatur Rehman on the operation conducted against terrorists after the attack on PAF camp. Earlier, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called on Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad and exchanged views on internal security situation of the country, including the attack on the airbase.

Both the leaders denounced the attack and reiterated the resolve to continue operation Zarb-e-Azb and actions under the National Action Plan (NAP). Sources said that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan informed the PM about the role played by the law enforcement agencies during the Badaber attack, saying the attack reflected a defeated mindset. Success of security forces is the best precedent of their professional skill and preparations, he added. Security forces have proved by thwarting terrorists’ attack that our armed forces are ready to face every challenge.
