BAJAUR: Bajaur Scouts Commandant Col Nayyar Zaman on Sunday praised the Frontier Corps (FC) for successfully defeating the militants and restoring peace in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

"The nation is proud of the Frontier Corps for its role in restoration of peace and stability in the tribal region," he said while addressing the passing-out parade of 132 FC recruits at the Bajaur Scouts Training Academy. Tribal elders, members of peace committees and officials of security forces and local administration attended the ceremony.

Col Zaman said the history of FC was full of unforgettable sacrifices for the country's defence. It was a committed force, which always showed exceptional performance in war areas across FATA and it would continue fighting miscreants and anti-state elements until they are eliminated from the region, he said.

He congratulated the recruits on completion of their training course and asked them to fulfil their responsibility with commitment. Complete peace and writ of the government has been restored in the whole agency because of the joint efforts of security forces and local people, he said. He said the law and order situation was under control and no one would be allowed to disturb peace in the agency.

As many as 78 personnel of quick response force unit of Bajaur Levies were also given basic training at the Bajaur Scouts Academy.

Speaking on the occasion, Political Agent Abdul Amir Khattak appreciated the role of the FC in fighting militancy in Bajaur Agency. He thanked the officials of Bajaur Scouts for giving training to a number of personnel of Bajaur Levies at the Scouts Training Academy. He expressed the hope that inclusion of trained Levies men would enhance Bajaur Levies' capability.

Later, Col Zaman witnessed the parade and FC personnel presented him a guard of honour. Several prizes were distributed to the personnel who showed extraordinary performance during the training.
