24 October, 2013
KARACHI: After receiving of NADRA's detailed report regarding verification of votes through thumbprints on ballot papers of PS-114 constituency, doubts over authenticity of 2013 electioneering have deepened.
Only 10,000 out of more than 92000 votes cast have been able to be verified, while more than 14000 votes have been discerned as bogus at the said constituency from where PML(N)'s Irfan ullah Marwat defeated MQM's Abdul Rauf Siddiqui; a result challenged by MQM in Election tribunal.
NADRA's (National Database Registration Authority) detailed report disclosed that out of total of 92, 748 votes, only 10,000 votes had been verified, while failure to verify 63,459 votes has been reported, and 14, 234 declared as bogus due to fake N.I.Cs. 378 voters never belonged to the constituency at all.
Earlier reports about Karachi's NA-256 and NA-258 had also been able to verify not more than 2,400 votes out of total of more than 32000 polled at NA-258, which saw the success of PML-N's Abdul Hakim Baloch, the officiating State Minister for Railways.
NA-256 had also managed to verify only 6, 815 votes out of polled 84,748 ballots, elevating MQM's Iqbal Muhammad Ali to victory.
MQM's MPA, Waqar Hussain Shah had also filed a petition to bar the NADRA report from appearing in media , over which Sindh High Court has informed all relevant departments , while the hearing on petition would be carried out next week.
