NAB gives clean chit to its chairman in NICL scam

24 December, 2013

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has cleared its chairman, Chaudhry Qamar Zaman from the allegation that he influenced an enquiry into the NICL scam.

A meeting of the executive board of the NAB was held under its acting chairman, Saeed Ahmed Sargana, on Monday in which an enquiry report was presented.

The report cleared stated that being interior secretary Qamar Zaman had neither exerted any pressure on the FIA investigating officer conducting an inquiry into NICL scam Zafar Qureshi nor placed any hurdle in the enquiry.

The report further said that Zaman had not only provided foolproof security to the investigating officer but also set aside the directives to suspend or remove him from holding the enquiry.
