LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz said on Sunday that people of NA-120 had rejected the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif.

In her victory speech after her mother Kulsoom Nawaz won the NA-120 by-election, Maryam thanked the voters. “Your votes have defeated the visible and invisible forces behind the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif,” she said.

“Today, the people of NA-120 have avenged the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif. This is how much you love Nawaz Sharif. All those forces have been defeated who were trying to surround Nawaz Sharif. You have rejected the court decision through your own decision. Your decision is that Nawaz Sharif is still your PM. You people have set a precedent for the coming generations that only a decision backed by the public is acceptable,” she said.

“Your 60,000 votes are equivalent to six million because the PML-N stood all alone against all conspiracies. All of you know that you have achieved something great today. You not only faced the visible, but also those who remain invisible. At one side, there was the PML-N. On the other, were the forces that had disqualified the PM,” she said.

A number of charged PML-N workers had gathered outside the Model Town residence of the Sharif family. They chanted slogans in support of Nawaz Sharif. Federal Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, MNA Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister Talal Chaudhry and MNA Maiza Hameed were also present.
