Musharraf calls for making country`s Foreign policy more effective

ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf Thursday stressing on making Pakistan`s foreign policy more effective and result oriented in view of fast changing world scenario said that first priority should be to work for ensuring protection of country`s interest.
President General Pervez Musharraf expressed these views in a high level meeting here on Thursday.
The meeting lasted for quite a while in which matters pertaining to Pakistan`s foreign policy was discussed in length.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassadors of US, Britain, India, France, China, Iran, Afghanistan and UN who have come to Pakistan to participate in Envoys Conference.
On the ocassion was present Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri and Secretary Foreign Affairs Riaz M Khan.
Sources revealed that President Musharraf urged the need to make Pakistan`s foreign policy more efficient and result-oriented.
President said that Pakistan is taking pragmatic steps to create a peaceful atmosphere in South Asia adding that not only in South Asia but want peaceful atmosphere in Middle East too.
He said that Ambassadors are the persons who can play a significant role in promoting peace, trade, economic and cultural relations among other countries.
President urged the Ambassadors to play their pivotal role in addressing the problems of Pakistani Community so that they can benefit maximum from investment opportunities present in the country.
Meanwhile Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri and Secretary Foreign Affairs Riaz M Khan briefed the President regarding the fast changes taking place in Iran, Afghanistan and Middle East.
They also informed him about the Pakistan`s prudent foreign policies and its results.
President expressed his satisfaction over the policies in this regard.
